Chairman Election for the Student Self-Government in EKSTU

On the 29th of September 2014 a significant event took place in EKSTU after D.Serikbaev. It was the first open election of the president for the student self-government, in the framework of Tempus Project “STUDIK: Student government and democratic participation in Kazakhstan”.

The Working Group of the Project prepared basic requirements and criteria to candidate for the post of chairman of the student government.

Following the results of consideration of submitted questionnaires 7 students became expectants for the presidency:

1 Aryngazy Ayaulym - 2nd year student of the Department of Economics and Management

2 Yaganova Sophia - 2nd year student of the Department of Information Technology and Power Engineering

3 Bissatova Laura - 2nd year student of the Department of Information Technology and Power Engineering

4 Dossanova Rabiga - 4th year student of the Department of Economics and Management

5 Seitbekov Daulet - 4th year student of the Department of Information Technology and Power Engineering

6 Mirzayeva Zemfira - 2nd year student of the Department of Economics and Management

7 Bekbolat Kusman - 4th year student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Transport.

All candidates are students actively involved in the public life of the university. During the election race the candidates made ​​their presentations for electoral program.

Each of the electoral programs includes new ideas aimed to improve the educational process, development of student self-government and cultural events. Volunteer and charity events were included in the long-term plans of candidates as well.

Student Election Commission checked compliance to all the requirements of these elections. Some special videos were shooted to inform students about the upcoming elections and then showed on television, student sites and social networks. For the election day newsletters, voting booths and ballot box were prepared. Students felt themselves as true electorate.

Finally the vote was won by Dosanova Rabiga and she became the Chairman of the student self-government in EKSTU.

Dosanova Rabiga is purposeful, responsible, active girl that have proved her relevance to the student self-government.

Staff and students of EKSTU congratulate Rabiga with a victory and wish her ​​much success, and hope that she will continue to develop the student self-government of the University and reach new hights!
